2-3pounds of steak (such as ribeye, sirloin, or flank steak)
Salt and pepper
Olive oil
Garlic cloves, minced (optional)
Fresh herbs, such as rosemary or thyme (optional)
Instructions
Take the steak out of the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before grilling.
Preheat the grill to high heat.
Season both sides of the steak generously with salt and pepper.
Drizzle a little bit of olive oil on both sides of the steak and rub it in.
If desired, sprinkle minced garlic and fresh herbs over the steak and rub them in as well.
Place the steak on the grill and let it cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness, or longer if you prefer your steak more well-done
Use tongs to flip the steak over and be careful not to pierce it, as this can release juices and make the steakdry.
Once the steak is done, take it off the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
