Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp. chili powder
- 1 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and cooked through, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks
- Add the onion, bell peppers, and garlic to the skillet and cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using) to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and kidney beans (if using) to the skillet and stir to combine.
- Bring the chili to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly and the flavors are well combined
- Season the chili with salt and pepper, to taste.
- Serve the chili hot, garnished with chopped cilantro, if desired.
